Mago.net Requirements

This Page is public and will be visible for all users, also unauthenticated users
Before installing a Mago.Net server and/or a client workstation, it is reccomended to read the following notes carefully and ensure that the computer meets the minimum requirements.

ImageIf the server also hosts the database server, its configuration must be planned according to expected data size and workload.
ImageIf you plan to make intensive use of web access, the server must be configured according to the expected workload due to the connected clients.



Software requirements

Server
  • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
Image IIS must be installed before to install the .NET Framework in order to run the proper mapping of ASP.NET. (cfr. KB000001 ).
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0

Client (lan access)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0

Client (web access)
  • For a workstation that will access only via web, the sole requirement is the presence of a browser among those supported:
    • Firefox 3.0
    • Google Chrome
    • Internet Explorer 7
    • Internet Explorer 8
    • Opera 9
    • Safari 3.2

Installing Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)

Image IIS must be installed before to install the .NET Framework in order to run the proper mapping of ASP.NET. (cfr. KB000001 ).

IIS is a Microsoft Windows component, its installation depends on operating system used

Windows Xp Pro (IIS 5.1)

Image IIS cannot be installed on a machine running Windows XP Home.

  • Image+R+appwiz.cpl
  • select Add/Remove Windows Components
  • select the INTERNET INFORMATION SERVICES (IIS) component
  • click Details
  • select the WORLD WIDE WEB SERVICES subcomponent.

Windows 2003 (IIS 6.0)


  • Image+R+appwiz.cpl
  • select Add/Remove Windows Components
  • select the Application Server component
  • click Details
    • select the ASP.NET subcomponent

      • click Details
      • select the WORLD WIDE WEB SERVICES subcomponent.

Windows Vista (IIS 7)

Image IIS cannot be installed on a machine running Windows Vista Home Basic.

Windows 2008/2008 R2 (IIS 7.0/7.5)

  • go to Administrative Tools » Server Manager (Image+R+CompMgmtLauncher)
  • select Add Roles
  • select Server Roles » Web Server (IIS)
  • click Next
  • in the Role Services details:
    • expand the Web Server node and add:
      • ASP.NET
      • the following subcomponents will be added automatically:
      • .NET Extensibility
      • ISAPI Extensions
      • ISAPI Filters
    • expand the Management Tools node,
      • expand the IIS 6 Management Compatibility node
        • select the IIS 6 WMI Compatibility subcomponent

The evolution of IIS, in a progressive and radical review of architecture, has created a version (7.0) much more modular than previous. This modularity, expressed in forty different components to obtain, during the installation, different configurations. As in above image is an example of a possible configuration.

Windows 8/8.1 (IIS 8.0/8.5)

  • Image+R+appwiz.cpl
  • select Turn Windows features on or off
  • expand the INTERNET INFORMATION SERVICES node
  • select the WEB MANAGEMENT TOOLS node and all its subcomponents
  • select the WORLD WIDE WEB SERVICES node and all its subcomponents

Windows 2012/2012 R2/2016 (IIS 8.0/8.5/10)

  • go to Administrative Tools » Server Manager (Image+R+CompMgmtLauncher)
  • select Add Roles and features
  • go ahead with the Wizard till Server Roles
  • in the Role details expand Web Server (IIS) node
    • select the Web Server node and all its subcomponents
    • select the Management Tools node and all its subcomponents

    • select Turn Windows features on or off
    • select the INTERNET INFORMATION SERVICES node

        • select the ASP.NET 4.6 node

    Installing Microsoft .Net Framework

    The Microsoft .NET Framework can be downloaded at the following address: Download .NET Framework and it requires Windows Installer 3.1 that can be downloaded at the following address: Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2).

    Supported operating systems

    • Windows XP Service Pack 3 or above
    • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1
    • Windows Vista
    • Windows Server 2008/2008 R2
    • Windows 7
    • Windows 8/8.1
    • Windows Server 2012/2012 R2
    • Windows 10 till version 1709
    • Windows Server 2016

    Image 32 and 64-bit architectures are supported both.


    Image The File System must be NTFS.



    ImageImage Among the operating systems listed above those that DO NOT allow the installation of IIS (eg. Windows XP Home Edition and Windows Vista Home Basic) can be used ONLY as a client of Mago.net.


    Supported databases

    ImageThe system database can be located only on a database server of type Microsoft® Sql Server™ (same editions and versions for the company database) set with the SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode (see KB000002 ).


    At present Microarea supports, for the company database, the following products:

    • Microsoft® Sql Server™ 2000 service pack 4
    • Microsoft® Sql Server™ 2005
    • Microsoft® Sql Server™ 2008/2008 R2
    • Microsoft® Sql Server™ 2012
    • Microsoft® Sql Server™ 2014
    • Microsoft® Sql Server™ 2016
    • Microsoft® Sql Server™ 2017
    • Oracle® 10g/XE
    • Oracle® 11g/XE
    • Oracle® 12c



    Image Selected products must be independently installed through the special tools provided by the producers.
