E.P. Supercarni was established in 1987 and operates
in the beef, pork and poultry processing and
transformation sector creating heat-and-serve dishes
such as hamburgers, shish kabob and croquettes.
These products, both fresh and frozen, are offered
by various large retail chains (Auchan, Citta'

Importing, processing and selling meat constitute
an extremely complex and delicate chain, especially
in view of the need to keep under constant control
the origins of raw materials, their quality, processing
and packaging and, finally, their shipment to
distribution channels. "Even before the law on lot
traceability came into effect" states the company
finance manager, Manlio Congiu, "we paid careful
attention to the origin of our raw materials, part of
which we buy in Italy and part of which in France.
We operate under constant veterinarian supervision,
checking every single lot to make sure all
hygiene-sanitary requirements are met. In fact, we
also serve many school and pre-school cafeterias,
and feel fully responsible for providing them with
healthy and safe food."
This essential need is combined with a more purely
commercial one, in other words managing the cash

facility. This involves managing sales offers,
loyalty cards and weighing scales, which are all connected
in a network. "It is essential to manage the
multitude of data that is generated by this sector",
continues Mr. Congiu. "Trends and indications on

Mago is the "bond" between various management
applications, enabling them to intercommunicate
and therefore increase their productivity. "We currently
use a number of report forms, some of which
were created by our dealer. We use them, for example,
to monitor carriers, vehicles and agents, exporting
data to Excel worksheets to create graphs and
trends," explains Congiu. New module functions like
Magic Documents will certainly help us use and
analyze data, that may also be easily consulted as

"We find Mail Connector extremely useful," continues
Mr. Congiu, "even though at the moment there are
only a few businesses that choose to receive shipping
documents and invoices in electronic format. At
present it is frequently used for dunnings, offers,
etc. given its cost-effectiveness and delivery speed.
As we have an ADSL line subscription, we're connected
24/7 and are not charged
extra for e-mail."
