Mago for the collectables and merchandising industry
The evolution of the organisation structure and the creation of an integrated environment, the latter holding strategic information that is crucial for the decision making of a company, surely represent an add-on value for Intercoins”. Aldo Torti, IT Systems Manager.
Intercoins S.p.A., based in Milan, has been involved in the merchandising, office stationery and supplies industry for the past forty years. The refinement and preciousness of the commercialised products has always been a distinguishing company feature, contributing to the strong connotation of its brand style. Recently Intercoins has diversified its offer (traditionally consisting in precious items or plain metal items – watches, medals, key rings, jewels, etc.) by introducing a new electronic product line for office desk, characterised by a perfect combination between high technology and design.
Intercoins S.p.A has always paid great attention to its IT infrastructure within the business governance. Right from the mid-1990s, Intercoins was well aware of the importance (and potential benefits) of having an ERP software within their company. “At the time we utilised AS/400, a system that did not have a reporting system capable of providing support to the strategic decisions. Consequently, we were forced to turn to expensive external consultants in order to tackle the analysis and information that was crucial towards our core business. This problem gave rise to the need of identifying an ERP software able to satisfy our requirements, and provide us with updated and exhaustive reports. Only after a close evaluation, we decided to turn to the Microarea platform, at the time called Mago per Windows”, said Aldo Torti, the IT System manager of Intercoins. The platform was initially introduced in the administration area, sales, purchases, receivables and payables cycle, financials and inventory. “We enforced MagoXP 1.2 in 2005, a version that allowed us to migrate to Mago.net (of which we intended to exploit the new valuable features in light of our business needs”) added Mr. Torti.
The experience of Intercoins within the merchandising, office stationery and supplies industry, as well as the expertise regarding the Microarea solutions, has allowed the migration to Mago.net to be completed successfully by using platform functionalities in order to reshape the company processes (without needing to customise).
Throughout the standard XML, one of the fundamental technologies standing at the basis of Mago.net (and especially of the “Magic Documents” module) that allows to interact with the ERP software using Office documents, Intercoins has been able to increase the value of even more applications used by a company, as for example the CRM. The standard information availability, shared, always updated and visualised in the formats of everyday use, deriving for the Mago.net platform, has indeed made available a database precious towards the feeding of the applications and enhancement of their effectiveness. “The evolution of the organisation structure and the creation of an integrated environment, the latter holding strategic information that is crucial for the decision making of a company, surely represent an add-on value for Intercoins. We believe that the more Mago.net will be able to interact effectively with an increasing number of application, the more it will become an essential tool towards the enhancement of our business activities and quality perceived by clients and partners” concluded Aldo Torti.
